When hints are unclear, make the request concrete

Clarify the task, the timing and how to check understanding.

Communication preferences differ. Direct language, written instructions and processing time can help. Both people can make adjustments.

Try: “When you say soon, do you mean this afternoon or tomorrow?” Restate the request and check that you agree.
